On the studio recording, however, the article sounds almost like "the". "The" good book then would have a clear Christian message, "the" good book being "the Good Book", the Bible. Here's what I found about this ambiguous line: "When asked about this he [Cat Stevens] told Yentob that – as far as he recalled - he had originally written "pick up the Good Book now" - an obvious allusion to the Bible, but had altered it to avoid its being taken up by 'Bible bashers.'"
