Dropped-D tuning, low to high: D A D G LEGEND: h: hammer-on p: pull-off /: slide up \: slide down (#): tap harmonic at written fret #(#): fret first number, and tap second number as a harmonic During the intro to this song, Mr. Chancellor has said that he uses the tone knob on his bass to get the wah-like sweep effect that is heard. What you must do is hammer-on and pull-off the notes with your left hand while controlling the tone knob with your right hand. However, if you have an active EQ on your bass, or the above technique is too difficult, you can use a wah pedal and play with your fingers very lightly. Also, during the harmonic section. you must perform a rather difficult technique. You must *tap* the harmonics with your right hand. What you do is tap right on the fret very quickly w/ your right hand, and let the harmonic ring. When I have tabbed a fret number with a harmonic right after it, what you do is fret the first number w/ your left hand, and tap the number in parentheses using the technique described above. The technique seems a little odd, but it is like putting a capo on the first number, and the tapping the harmonic as if it were the fifth fret harmonic. It takes a lot of practice, but I couldn't think of any other way to produce the needed harmonics.
