Good Day Sunshine The Beatles Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; released on the album "Revolver". "Good Day Sunshine" was mostly Paul's composition. The song is notable for its apparent meter change (actually it has steady 4/4 rhythm with the exception of the last two refrains), the lack of any guitar part, and the key change in the instrumental half of the second verse (a trick they tried earlier on some outtakes of "What You're Doing" for "Beatles For Sale" album, but then the idea was rejected). The home key also changes in the very end of the song a half-step up, from A Major to B-flat Major, but only its dominant chord (F Major) is played, as an extension of the final refrain. The arrangement is built up of a double-tracked piano, bass guitar, double-tracked drums, tambourine and handclaps. Paul sings the lead vocals, with John and George singing harmony vocals in the refrains. Paul's bassline is only a little more than playing together with the "left hand" of George Martin's piano, but one can tell that there is a bass guitar there, by the slides on the strings (even though they're hard to hear).
