Tuning:
This is the closing song on the 1975's new album. Beautiful acoustic track. It's all
finger-picking so I'll just give a rough outline of the pattern played throughout
the verse and the chords for the chorus.
[Intro/Verse]
e|--------------------3---------------------------------------------3---------|
B|----/3---1----0-------------0-----------------1------------0----------------|
G|-----0---0----0-------------------------0-----------0-----------------------|
D|----------------------------------0h2---------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------3------3------3-----------3-----3------------3-------------|
It's not exactly what he's playing but just mess around with something like this during
the verse andyou should sound good. If you want to strum just strum a G and hammer on
the 2nd fret on the D string every once in a while.
Third line of the verse (The Chemicals that make her laugh... Even though her son is gone...
She just wants to feel something... etc.) it change to a D then Back to a G, something like this:
[Verse]
And she lays Gdown on her bedroom floor
The Dchemicals that make her laugh
Don't seem to be working anyGmore
She tries her Gbest, but it hurts her chest
And Deven though her son is gone
She'd like to love her child nevertheGless
Just repeat that for all the verses.
[Chorus]
(The Chorus is where it gets a bit tricky, here's my interpretation of it)
DAnd I don't think that's asking for too Gmuch E
AmAnd when I go to Dsleep Git's when Eshe begins to Cweep
She's Cmappalled by not Dloving me at Dmaj7all
CShe wears a frown and dressing Dgown
When she lays Gdown
(The most important thing is the play the chorus with a sort of descending bass line
so I finger the chords something like this)
She's Appalled by not loving me at all
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------3---------3-------------------------|
G|-----------------0----------0---------------------------------------------------|
D|-----------1-----------1--------------4----------4------------------------------|
A|--------3-----3-----3-----3--------5-----5----5-----5-----4---------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
So here's the chords for the entire song:
[Verse 1]
And she lays Gdown on her bedroom floor
The Dchemicals that make her laugh
Don't seem to be working Ganymore
[Verse 2]
She tries her Gbest, but it hurts her chest
And Deven though her son is gone
She'd like to love her child nevertheGless
[Verse 3]
My hair is Gbrown, she's scared to touch
And Dshe just wants to feel something
And I don't think that's asking for too Gmuch E
[Chorus 1]
AmAnd when I go to Dsleep Git's when Eshe begins to Cweep
She's Cmappalled by not Dloving me at Dmaj7all
She wears a Cfrown and dressing Dgown
When she lays Gdown
[Verse 4]
Well we got a Gplane, going to see my dad again
She Dprayed that we fell from the sky
Simply to alleviate the Gpain
[Verse 5]
Over the Gwater, hmm
Over terrain
The Dengines all go bust, we turned to dust
And I've no reason to Gcomplain, Eyeah
[Chorus 2]
AmAnd in the end, she chose Dcocaine
GBut it Ecouldn't fix her Cbrain
She's Cmappalled oh she doesn't Dlove me at Dmaj7all
She wears a Cfrown and dressing Dgown
When she lays Gdown
