When I play this in an acoustic, I play the big riff that usually alternates between D and C notes which is played throughout the verses by playing Dsus2 and D7sus, hammering on and off from the D and C on the b string instead. Alternately, you can just play the riff. Verse 1:
Dsus2The stD7sus2atic comes in slow You can feel it grow Our stream of conscience flows Under the streets below
Interlude:
Dsus2(Oohs)D7sus2 Verse 2: Dsus2The riD7sus2vers made of sound Still running underground Runs like a silent flood We run as thick as blood
Prechorus:
Can you hear it rBbise, Up from the grFound Can't drown it oBbut, Can you hear it nGow
- Chorus –
This is the soDund of a heartbeat This is the sound from the discontented moBbuths Of a haunted nation FWe are the voice of Gbreaking DDown, Can you hear me? This is the sound of the desperation bBbound By our own collision FWe are the voice of brGeaking DDown
Verse 3:
Dsus2The stD7sus2atic comes alive Beneath the broken skies John Perkins said it right Love is the final fight
Interlude: Dsus2 D7sus2 (Oohs) Prechorus 2:
Let it rise aBbbove, Rise abFove There is no sBbong, Louder than lGove
- Chorus –
This is the soDund of a heartbeat This is the sound from the discontented moBbuths Of a haunted nation FWe are the voice of Gbreaking DDown, Can you hear me? This is the sound of the desperation bBbound By our own collision FWe are the voice of brGeaking DDown
Breakdown: (This is the part where it gets quiet and then the solo comes in before a third prechorus. If you are chording here just continue the Dsus2 D7sus2 combo for the whole thing.) Prechorus 2:
Let it rise aBbbove, Rise abFove There is no sBbong, Louder than lGove
- Chorus –
This is the soDund of a heartbeat This is the sound from the discontented moBbuths Of a haunted nation FWe are the voice of Gbreaking DDown, Can you hear me? This is the sound of the desperation bBbound By our own collision FWe are the voice of brGeaking DDown
