I'm not sure what they did on the CD, but live Steven Wilson plays the A Amaj7 Dsus2 E progression as barre chords. I think both open and barred sound good, so it's up to you how you want to play it. If you do play it open, however, be careful to keep the E5 chord and not resort to an E or E7 open chord because you can really hear the difference. The pitch is a higher E, hence the E5. Also, if you go the barre chord route, it sounds much better if you leave out the top strings. I finally gave up on the F E A chords that end the song. In acoustic live performances, it sounds like he goes from a Dsus2, to something like a Dm(?) then F, E, A, but on the CD it sounds like the F is held for two bars, then E then A. Guitars 2 and 3 are guesswork, plain and simple. I think they sound good, and work as a nice approximation of what is really being played, but I can guarantee they are not accurate. If anyone knows definitively how to play this amazing song, I would love to know, so please, please, please e-mail me any corrections.
