[Verse 1]
The most Gchivalrous fish of the D7ocean
To ladies forebearing and Gmild
Though his Crecord be dark
Is the Gman-eating shark
Who will D7eat neither woman nor cGhild.
[Verse 2]
He dines uGpon seamen and sD7kippers,
And tourists his hunger Gassuage,
And a fresh Ccabin boy
Will inGspire him with joy
If he's D7past the maturity Gage.
[Verse 3]
A docGtor, a lawyer, a preD7acher,
He'll gobble one any fGine day
But the ladies, God Cbless 'em,
He'll onGly address 'em
PoD7litely and go on his Gway.
[Verse 4]
I can Greadily cite you an insD7tance
Where a lovely young lady Gof Breem,
Who was tender and Csweet
And deGlicious to eat,
Fell D7into the bay with a sGcream.
[Verse 5]
She sGtruggled and flounced in the D7water
And signaled in vain for Gher bark,
And she'd surely been Cdrowned
If she hGadn't been found
By a D7chivalrous man-eating sGhark.
[Verse 6]
He bGowed in a manner most D7polished,
Thus soothing her imGpulses wild;
Don't be frightened," he Csaid,
"I've been Gproperly bred
And will D7eat neither woman nor cGhild."
[Verse 7]
Then he Gproffered his fin and she D7took it—
Such a gallantry none can Gdispute—
While the passengers Ccheered as the
Vessel Gthey neared
And a D7broadside was fired in Gsalute.
[Verse 8]
And they Gstood alongside the D7vessel,
When a life-saving dinghy Gwas lowered
With the pick of the Ccrew,
And her Grelatives, too
And the D7mate and the skipper aGboard.
[Verse 9]
So they Gtook her aboard in a D7jiffy,
And the shark stood at attention the Gwhile,
Then he raised on his Cflipper
And Gate up the skipper
And D7went on his way with a Gsmile.
[Verse 10]
And this Gshows that the prince of the D7ocean,
To ladies forebearing and Gmild,
Though his Crecord be dark,
He's the Gman-eating shark
Who will D7eat neither woman nor cGhild.
