Note: These instructions use very beginner terminology (I am a beginner-ish), whether that makes this easier or harder I don't know. There are no chords, no strums, just fret numbers and picking patterns. I've made this also assuming you've heard the song so if you haven't heard this beautiful song already, go listen. Now. Your ears will be blessed. Once you've heard that, if you want, listen to a live performance as well as this is based off his guitar performance live. Okay let's begin. Tune guitar down *whole step*. Recommended - fender tune app(free). Easily tunable anyway you'd like it. Go into settings when tuning and you can find the option. Another note: I recommend for those who pick up songs a bit slow (me) to go practice all of this just doing pinches and tapping your foot. Once you've got the rhythm and hand shapes down, move onto the finger picking. Also, so you don't tire your foot out, half the amount of picks to get the beat and tap your foot along to that. Finger-picking Patterns: P1 : Pinch 5th/6th(whichever held) & 2nd together. Back and forth with 2nd and open 3rd. P1b: Same, only difference is going back and forth with 1st and open 3rd. Verse (t=recommended, hold fret with thumb) : \/ (No. Picks down left) 6. 0-6-0-0-8-0 (-r) P1 10. 0-11-0-0-13-0 (-r) P1 6. 8t-0-0-0-8-0 (-r) P1 6. 6t-0-0-0-0-6 P1b 2. 6t-0-0-0-9-0 P1 2 6t-0-0-0-8-0 P1 Repeat (-r) 10. 6t-0-0-0-6-0 Patterns: P2 : Pinch 4th and 2nd. Back and forth with 2nd & 3rd Pre-chorus: 6. 0-0-10-8-8-8 P2. <(Cover whole 10. 0-0-8-8-8-8 P2. < 8th fret with 6. 0-0-7-8-8-0 P2. Index) 10. 0-0-6-8-8-0 P2 Repeat (Last, omit last shape, play previous with 10 instead of 8 picks then P2 pinch). Chorus (Finger shape very similar throughout): 6. 0-11-0-0-13-0 P1 10. 0-6-0-0-8-0 P1 6. 0-3-0-0-4-0 P1 10. 0-1-0-0-3-0 P1 6. 0-8-0-0-9-0 P1 10. 0-6-0-0-8-0 P1 6. 0-1-0-0-3-0 P1 6. 0-1-0-0-3-0 P1 Repeat. Bridge: 16. 0-8-0-0-9-0 P1 16. 0-6-0-0-8-0 P1 16. 0-1-0-0-3-0 P1 16. 0-3-0-0-4-0 P1 Repeat, chorus Let me know what you think. If it is a bit too hard to follow, I'll try to release an easier version. This is probably the most accurate tutorial so far as this is practically identical to James Bay's live performances. Enjoy!
