That is why the intro sounds like Matt's guitar is out of tune. It's because He is playing two different power chords for the first half of every measure in the intro/verse. He plays a lot of octave notes in all of Alkaline Trio's music as well. What I mean is, playing the 9th fret on the A string while also playing the low E string open for example. In this song it's 9 on D and open on A. He also plays what I call "goofy chords" which is sliding your index finger down a fret while playing a power chord, or starting from a "goofy chord" sliding your index finger up a fret to a regular power chord.
